The
Kettleers (18-22-4, tied for fourth in the West) hung in with the
rest of the Western Division hopefuls until the last week of the regular
season. Carrying four tie games into the end of the regular season,
the Kettleers ended in a tie for fourth place in the Western Division
with Falmouth. Righty Jeff Heaverlo of Washington opened some eyes
with a 3.09 ERA and league-leading 94 strikeouts in 67 innings pitched
to finish with seven of the Kettleers 18 wins and a share in the BFC
Whitehouse Award for Outstanding Pitcher. Heaverlo and third baseman
Garrett Atkins (.383-3-25, 11 2B) made the league post-season All-Star
team and were joined by outfielder Todd Donovan (.253-3-15, 25 SB)
and catcher Andy Kropf (.288-2-18) on the West Division in-season
All-Star squad. Team
