Tennessee sophomore southpaw Nick Hernandez showed his skill and poise on the mound Saturday in the Kettleers' opening day victory over the Brewster Whitecaps, 4-1, at Elizabeth Lowell Park.

    Hernandez struck out eight batters in seven strong innings of work, did not walk a batter and scattered seven basehits en route to his first-ever Cape League victory.

Mike Bianucci belts a home run in early season action for the Kettleers. Bianucci signed a professional contract with the Texas Rangers Friday night after leading Cotuit in homers through Friday.

Robbie Shields launched a home run in Cotuit's 8-3 win over Bourne last night (June 25). Shields was released by Cotuit on July 1 due to an injury.
