Open Season With Shutout Win on Pitcher's no-hit innings

Tenn. - Luke Hochevar tossed seven no-hit innings and Brian Cleveland
drove in four runs as the Tennessee Volunteers opened the 2004 season
with an 11-0 shutout
victory over the visiting Morehead State Eagles at Lindsey Nelson
Stadium.
Hochevar (1-0), who threw 85 pitches, in his
first start of the season struck out a career-high tying 10 while
issuing just one walk in facing the minimum 21 batters.
Morehead
State (0-1) was limited to one hit, a Zac Carr single in the eighth
off reliever Patrick Hicklen. Hicklen was making his first appearance
since Apr. 13, 2002, after undergoing "Tommy John" surgery.
Tennessee (1-0) jumped out a 4-0
lead in the first thanks to a two-run single by newcome Chris Kemp,
an RBI ground out by Nick Crowe and the second Eagle error of the
inning.
The Vols pounded out 15 hits, including a pair of three-hit efforts
by Josh Alley and Eric King who each drove in a run. Cleveland,
Crowe and Eli Iorg each collected a pair of hit.
Michael Rivers provided the first long ball of the day leading off
the fourth, while Cleveland connected with a three-run shot in the
seventh to make it 10-0. Alley's capped the scoring with a solo
home run in the eighth.
