One of the elite prospects in the state of Louisiana who could begin the season as a starting middle infielder ... ranked in Baseball America's Top 300 Prospects of 2004 ... led all newcomers at the plate in LSU's fall intrasquad games, batting an impressive .424 with six doubles, a triple, two homers and 15 RBI ... was the team leader in runs scored (15) and stolen bases (7).

High School: A four-year standout at 5A powerhouse Jesuit ... as a senior, batted a state-high .505 with seven homers and 34 RBI leading the Blue Jays to their third consecutive district championship and another state tournament appearance ... shined on the mound, recording a 10-0 record and throwing a one-hit shutout in the 5A state quarterfinals ... played on numerous all-star teams, including Baseball America's World Wooden Bat squad and the Bill Hood Louisiana All-Star team in June of 2003 ... was invited by Baseball America to play at the National Showcase in Lincoln, Neb. ... spearheaded Jesuit to the 2002 5A state title as a starting shortstop ... compiled a .385 batting average on the 2002 season and hit .469 at the state tournament in New Iberia ... also lettered one year in track and field as a javelin thrower.

Personal: Full name is Jerry Michael Hollander III ... parents are Mike and Sheila Hollander ... has one younger sister, Melanie and one younger brother, Mitchell ... interests include hunting, fly fishing, surfing and ping-pong ... chose LSU because of "the tradition of winning in athletics and the quality education opportunity" ... plans on attending law school at LSU ... born October 30, 1985.
