Established and first awarded in 1987, the scholarship is given by the Cotuit Athletic Association in memory of Manuel Robello, a member of the first Cotuit Kettleer baseball team in 1947 and a long-time supporter of the Cotuit Athletic Association until his death on March 19, 1986.
      The award had historically been awarded to a Barnstable High School senior who intended to major in a sports related field. Recent awards, however, have been expanded to include high school seniors who are legal residents of Barnstable, Mashpee, and Sandwich, with no restriction on college major.
The CAA Scholarship Committee reviews the applications and makes the selections of the recipients. The amount of $750 is paid directly to each recipient upon completion in good standing of the Fall Freshman semester.
