2009: Named to the Coaches All-SoCon second team...selected SoCon Pitcher of the Month in March... seven saves on the season were the most on the team... second best 3.60 ERA on team...tied for most on the team with 30 appearances... 50 innings pitched... finished 23 games on the mound... recorded fifth most saves in the SoCon... struck out 71 batters, third on the team and 10th in the SoCon... issued only 14 walks on the season... team-best .203 opposing batting average... pitched in six of the first eight games of the season... most impressive performance  came in relief against Davidson (5/21) in the SoCon Tournament going four innings, striking out eight and giving up only one hit while picking up the win... combined to go four innings pitched with eight strikeouts and no hits, walks or runs allowed against South Carolina (3/31 and 4/15)... pitched a career-high in relief again Tennessee Tech (2/28) going six innings, giving up three hits, one earned run and striking out a career-high eight batters ... did not give up a run in 8.1 innings pitched (from 4/24 to 5/8)... pitched against every Southern Conference team at least once.

2008: Struck out 10 batters in 9.1 innings of work... most impressive performance came at UNC Wilmington (4/15) where he struck out all five batters faced in 1.2 innings of work against the Seahawks... made his collegiate debut against Winthrop (3/26), pitching 2.0 innings and striking out three without allowing a walk or a hit... did not allow a hit in three consecutive appearances starting with 1.0 inning pitched at Coastal Carolina (4/30) and ending with 1.0 inning pitched at Georgia Southern (5/4), retiring 12 consecutive batters in that stretch... in his first collegiate start, allowed three runs on five hits while walking one and striking out one at Winthrop (5/7)... struck out one and walked one in 0.2 innings pitched against Western Carolina (5/10)... in the team's regular season finale against Presbyterian (5/17), did not allow a hit or walk in 1.0 inning on the mound.

High School: A 2007 graduate of Summerville High School... earned varsity letters in baseball and golf... played summer ball with Pro Level Sports, coached by Stan Kowalski.

Personal: Jonathan Drew Mahaffey... born Sept. 28, 1989... son of Roger and Rachel Mahaffey... mother, Rachel, played basketball at Gardner-Webb... majoring in business administration.
