Tom O'Connell, Assistant Coach

Tom O'Connell brings a wealth of experience to the 1998 Kettleer coaching staff.  Tom played baseball at Braintree High School and at the University of Connecticut where he was the captain of the 1955 Yankee Conference Championship team.  He has also had playing experience in NCAA summer leagues and the Kansas City A's organization.

His coaching experience runs from High School,  where he led his teams to 5 state qualifiers, state finalist, and Eastern Mass. State Champion, to college where he was head coach at Brandeis University (1972-82) and head coach at Princeton University (1982-97).  His Brandeis teams were 5 time Greater Boston League Champions, 6 time NCAA Division III regional qualifiers and a NCAA Division III World Series runner-up.  At Princeton Tom's teams were 2 time Gehrig Division Champion, 3 time league champion, and 3 time NCAA Division I regional qualifier.

Tom has also had a great deal of experience in clinic instruction and baseball camps.  He served as the Director of the Ted Williams Baseball Camp, (1972-82) and Director of the Princeton University Baseball camp  (1982-97).

Tom has been a social studies teacher, physical education teacher and guidance counselor at Braintree High School and was an Associate professor of physical education at Brandeis University.

Personal:  Married with two children, Jo-Anne (29) and Timothy (27).  A  graduate of Braintree High School and the University of Connecticut with a M.Ed. degree from Suffolk University (1963) and a C.A.G.S. from Boston University (1969).  Tom served in the U.S. Army from 1956-58.
