A Sophomore from Irvine, returns to the Kettleers for a second season. An All Star player in '98, he finished 2nd in CCBL in hitting with a .383 batting average, one point behind the leader. Garrett had 51 hits, 11 doubles, and 3 home runs in 35 games. At UCLA in 1998 he led the team in batting average (.383), batting average in league play (.405), batting average in nonconference play (.354), batting average at home (.412), batting average on the road (.358), hits (85), hits in league play (51) ... drafted by the NY Mets in 10th round of 1997 draft ... parents Ronald and Diana Atkins, younger sister, Kristan.
