2008 COTUIT KETTLEERS BASEBALL CLINICS
POLICIES & PROCEDURES
Equipment & Supplies:
Each Child should bring a baseball glove, bat, hat, light snack and beverage. All belongings should be clearly marked with your child’s name. Children should wear sunscreen and/or bug spray. Lost items will be collected daily and brought back to camp during the week. In the event that items are not collected during the week, there will be a lost and found at Lowell Park for any forgotten items. You may pick them up during home games.
Schedule of Activities:
Group instruction at skill stations will be given each day. At times, different games and activities designed to keep participants interest will be incorporated into the clinic schedule. A scrimmage baseball game generally concludes the day’s activities. Clinic begins at 9 am and ends promptly at 11:45. Coaches and Kettleer players have fieldwork and batting practice at Lowell Park immediately following clinic.
Friday – Slip-n-Slide Day – All children whether in Cotuit or Centerville will report to Lowell Park, Cotuit for check in. The children will have instruction at Lowell Park for one and one-half hours and then will walk to the Cotuit School for Slip-n-Slide.
Children will be given their Clinic T-shirt on Friday at the Cotuit School after the conclusion of Slip-n-Slide. This is also where any pre-ordered Clinic Bats from Barnstable Bat Company will be picked up.
PLEASE NOTE: WE CANNOT BE RESPONSIBLE FOR YOUR CHILD AFTER CLINIC ENDS.
Sportsmanship:
The most important lessons to be learned in the Kettleer clinics are sportsmanship and respect for fellow athletes. We believe in creating an atmosphere of encouragement and respect on the field. Any child who does not adhere to our standards regarding behavior and language may be asked to leave the clinic.
Rain:
Cancellation due to serious weather will be announced over the radio by 8:30 am on WQRC 99.9. The clinics will cancel only in the event of unusual weather conditions (downpour, thunderstorm, etc.). There is no shelter available at the clinic sites, so attendance is left to parental discretion. Rain days may be made up in another session (with the exception of the final session) by advance scheduling with the coach in charge. Only days cancelled by the clinic coaches may be made up.
QUESTIONS? CONCERNS? PROBLEMS?
Please direct these to the Head Coach at your “home field.” The coaches are familiar with your child and the situation at your clinic site. Therefore, they are best equipped to answer your questions or deal with any difficulties. We ask for your cooperation in adhering to this request.
We hope everyone enjoys their clinic week. Don’t forget to come to Lowell Park to cheer on the Kettleers! Kettleers are known for the fine quality of baseball played, a competitive spirit, and fun for the entire family!
In
1975, the Cotuit Athletic Association
launched its baseball clinic program for boys and girls, ages 7-12,
now expanded to included 6-year-olds, and an advanced clinic for 11-13 year-olds and 14-16 year-olds. Our own Kettleers players, under
the guidance and direction of Kettleers Field Manager Mike Roberts and the Kettleers coaching staff, instruct
more than 400 youngsters each summer, stressing fundamental baseball
skills, sportsmanship, and a true love of the game. Several years
ago, girls' softball clinics were added for ages 9-13.
