two prep seasons included a 1.16 seven-inning ERA (1.49 for 9 innings)
and 18-3 record, plus an eye-popping 11.6 K-to-walk ratio (9-inning
averages of 13.5 Ks, 1.2 BB, 5.1 H) ... named all-city, all-state
