In 2003, Matt made 15 appearances with a 5-0 record and a 4.17 ERA in 2003 … struck out 49 and walked 25 in 58.1 innings of work … was named First Team All-MWC … was named Louisville Slugger National Player of the Week and 2003 Louisville Slugger Freshman All-American, MWC Pitcher of the Week and National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association Player of the Week after throwing a 9-inning no-hitter in a 5-0 victory over San Diego State on March 28 … struck out a season-high 11 batters in the no-hitter … also earned MWC Player of the Week on May 5 after holding San Diego State scoreless in five innings with five strikeouts.
