SOUTH YARMOUTH, MA - Three
is apparently the charm for the Cotuit Kettleers.
Charles Blackmon (Young Harris) tossed
five solid innings allowing just two hits and two runs to pick up
his first Cape League win (1-0), while LSU's Bryan Harris and Alabama's
Emeel Salem each had a banner day at the plate, going 2-4.
Blackmon made one mistake in his five innings
of work -- a two-run shot to Y-D's Chris Errecart, but the mistake
was not enough to leave the Kettleers hanging in the lurch.
The Kettleers climbed on top of Y-D in the fourth
stanza as LSU's J.P. Padron and Mike Hollander each singled, followed
by LSU teammate Bryan Harris's RBI-single.
Emeel Salem then punched in Hollander with two
outs to make it 3-2. Notre Dame's Sean Gaston drove in the fourth
and final run with a sacrifice bunt in the fifth inning. Barrett
Browning was credited with the save for the Kettleers.
