The
Kettleers Continue Their Run-Scoring Binge on the Road
By

BOURNE,
MA — Cotuit
won its third straight last night and took over first place in the
Western Division in 12-0 tilt on the road versus the Bourne Braves.
The Kettleers added to their league-leading 42
runs and Dan Delucia ran his record to 2-0.
Delucia (Ohio State, 2BB, 7 K, 2 H) pitched eight
shutout innings as he completely baffled the Braves attack throughout
the game. Delucia had plenty of help from his offense in earning
his second victory of the season as Cotuit batters continued to
be deadly against opposing pitchers. Cotuit jumped on Bourne starting
pitcher Mickey Storey (Florida Atlantic, 2 BB, 7 Ks, 4H), who picked
up his second loss of the season, right away as Justin Smoak (South
Carolina, 3 for 6, 2RBI) hit his first homerun of the season to
give the Kettleers a two run lead that they wouldn't relinquish.
Going
into the seventh inning with a four run lead, Cotuit continued to
build on their lead against Bourne reliever Kyle Walker (Texas,
4 BB, 4 K, 9 H). Cotuit batted around in the seventh inning as they
scored four runs off of seven hits as four different people had
RBI's in the inning. While Bourne pitchers continued to struggle
against Cotuit batters, Delucia continued to mow down batters, not
allowing them to gain any of the momentum needed for them to stage
a comeback. After Cotuit added another four runs in the ninth inning,
Michael Cisco (South Carolina) came on for his first action of the
season to close out the game for the Kettleers. Cisco had a one-two-three
inning to finish up the game, giving Cotuit their fifth win of the
season.
The
Kettleers attack continues to be red hot and until they begin to
slow down, opposing pitchers should fear this vaunted Cotuit attack.
Cotuit stays on the road tomorrow as the Kettleers play against
Brewster hoping to win their fourth in a row in order to keep pace
with Wareham.
