Freshman Wise Named SEC Player of the Week

BATON
ROUGE -- LSU freshman infielder J.T. Wise was named Monday as the
SEC Freshman of the Week by the league office.
Wise hit .563 (9-for-16) in the Tigers' four games last week with
one double, one homer, two RBI and two runs. The Apopka, Fla., native
also walked once and posted a .588 on-base percentage.
Wise's solo homer against No. 12 Tulane last Tuesday capped a three-run
rally for the Tigers, helping to erase a 2-0 deficit in the sixth
inning of a game LSU went on to win, 4-3.
Wise is hitting .377 (26-for-69) on the year with six doubles, one
homer 14 RBI and eight runs.
Wise becomes the second LSU player this season to win SEC Freshman
of the Week honors. Outfielder Jarred Bogany received the award
on Feb. 13.
LSU (16-3) remained No. 8 in this week's Collegiate Baseball poll,
and the Tigers moved up two spots to No. 11 in the Baseball America
rankings. LSU fell one spot to No. 10 in this week's USA Today/ESPN
Top 25.
