Ole Miss Southpaw Notches 2nd Complete Game Win

March 19, 2004

OXFORD, Miss. - Sophomore LHP Brae Wright turned in his second straight complete game and No. 11 (Baseball America) Ole Miss scored two runs in the seventh to defeat No. 22 Vanderbilt 3-1 and sweep the weekend's three-game Southeastern Conference, in front of 3,612 at Oxford-University Stadium/Swayze Field.

The win was the Rebels' sixth straight as they moved to 18-1 on the year and 3-0 in the SEC. Vanderbilt fell to 14-5 and 0-3 in the SEC.

Wright (5-0) scattered seven hits and walked one, while striking out eight in winning his fifth straight start.

Sophomore left-hander Ryan Mullins (2-1) limited the Rebels to just five hits and walked one, but was hurt by two Commodore errors in the seventh inning that led to two unearned runs. He also struck out eight.

"These were just three terrific baseball games this weekend," said Ole Miss Head Coach Mike Bianco. "All three games could have gone either way and we're very happy that we're able to come out on top.

"Brae Wright was just sensational on the mound this afternoon, and we were able to make the plays that turned out to be difference."
