Chatham 11 Cotuit 8
-The loss drops the Kettleers record to 18-12 on the season
First Looks
-Mark Payton (Texas) made his first start for the Kettleers on the season. Payton started at DH, before moving to center field in the eighth inning. Payton went 1-5 with a double and an RBI in his debut.
Can’t Corral Chatham
-The Anglers seem to have the Kettleers number this season. The Kettleers have yet to beat the Anglers in three tries. Cotuit has lost the three games by a total of seven runs.
Switching Sides
-Cotuit’s first game at Chatham featured nine lefties in the Kettleer lineup. The second game featured seven. Tonight the Kettleers sent only four.
Where’d the Plate Go?
-Cotuit has lost two of their last three games, and poor control seems to be to blame. Tonight the Kettleers gave up nine walks and hit four batters. In their loss Monday to the Harwich Mariners, the Kettleers walked ten.
Defensive Change
-Cotuit came out in the eighth inning with a unique defensive alignment. The Kettleers had Logan Ratledge (NC State) move to third, Jake Fincher (NC State) come in from right field to play second, moved Yale Rosen (Washington State) move out to right, shifted Payton to center field, and moved pitcher Brian Miller (Vanderbilt) at first base.
Errant Play
-The Kettleers made two errors on the night. These errors proved costly, as four of the 11 runs were unearned.
Take Your Time
-The game moved very slowly. The official game time was 3:24
Barnstable Patriots Cup
-The Kettleers will look to rebound Friday at Hyannis at 6 p.m. A win would clinch the Barnstable Patriots Cup for the Kettleers.
