CCBL Hall of Fame 2013: GM Bruce Murphy, 2013 Inductee Garrett Atkins, Manager Mike Roberts, and GM Emeritus Arnold Mycock (Hall of Fame Class of 2000)
Former Kettleers infielder Garrett Atkins (1998-99) became one of eight new members of the Cape Cod Baseball League’s Hall of Fame on Saturday, November 16, 2013.
The UCLA product called his time in Cotuit “so important to my future development in the Major Leagues” as he went on to play 8 years with the Colorado Rockies and Baltimore Orioles.
While with the Kettleers, Atkins hit a robust .383 in 1998 with 51 hits. The Orange, California native followed that up with a .312 average in 1999 with 35 RBI. Atkins was 2 for 3 in the All Star game that year and was named the MVP in the West’s 6-4 victory. To cap off his Cotuit career, Atkins led the Kettleers to the CCBL championship in 1999 and was named playoff MVP.
