In its season opener at Bourne, Wareham scored two runs in the top of the third to take a 2-0 lead on the Braves courtesy of a Jake Little (Memphis) RBI triple and Willie Calhoun (Arizona) sacrifice fly. Bourne tacked on three runs in the bottom of the fourth off Gatemen starter Andrew Zapata (Connecticut) and reliever Liam O’Sullivan (Saint Leo). O’Sullivan allowed another run in the sixth as Wareham was unable to score for the remainder of the game and fell 4-2.
In Game 2 at Chatham, Wareham’s bats exploded. They helped the Gatemen jump out to a 3-0 lead after 2 ½ innings and after Chatham evened the score at three in the bottom of the third, Wareham blew the game open. Scoring nine runs in the next two innings, Wareham got a hit from every batter, including three each from Little and Nick Halamandaris (UC-Berkeley), along with a home run from Keaton Aldridge (Memphis).
