The Cotuit Athletic Association is thrilled to announce that the total funds raised in honor of former Boston College Baseball captain, and tireless champion in the fight against ALS, Pete Frates, at the annual pre-season scrimmage between the Cotuit Kettleers and the Lexington Blue Sox at Lowell Park on June 6, 2015, is $1,500.
Pete Frates played four games at Lowell Park while he was a member of Lexington Blue Sox. His last appearance was in June of 2011, just 9 months before his diagnosis with ALS. Since his diagnosis, Pete has fought fearlessly against the disease, and raised over $100 Million through the Ice Bucket Challenge.
The funds raised in Pete’s honor at Lowell Park will be donated to the Pete Frates 3 Fund, to support medical research that will hopefully find a cure for ALS as soon as possible. The Cotuit Athletic Association wishes to sincerely thank all of the loyal, and incredibly generous, Cotuit Kettleers fans, who attended the scrimmage on a blustery early June afternoon, and who contributed donations to advance the mission to: “STRIKE OUT ALS!”
