Several former Kettleers were selected in this year’s Major League Baseball draft.
Kyle Holder (San Diego) was a first round selection of the New York Yankees. Holder was one of the top defensive shortstops in collegiate play this season. Kettleers fans will remember Holder since he left Cotuit with an injury during the 2014 season, but later returned when healthy showing his commitment to the Kettleers.
A.J. Minter (Texas A&M) was a second round supplemental pick of the Atlanta Braves. Minter, a hard throwing lefty, appeared in 4 games for the Kettleers last season and had an era of 2.34.
Rhett Wiseman (Vanderbilt) was tabbed by the Washington Nationals in the third round of this year’s draft. Wiseman from nearby Mansfield played for the Kettleers in 2013 and 2014 and was one of their mainstays in the outfield.
Drew Jackson (Stanford), another two year player for the Kettleers (2013 and 2014), was selected in the fifth round by the Seattle Mariners. Jackson was the second member of his family to play for the Kettleers as his brother Brett (2008) also played for coach Mike Roberts.
In the sixth round, Edwin Rios (Florida International) was picked by the Los Angeles Dodgers. Rios was a late season call up in 2013 and played in 11 games for the Kettleers.
2013-2014 intern Hendrik Hertz has the complete list of former Kettleers drafted.
