The Kettleers (11-17-1) won a two-run thriller in the 11th inning over the Harwich Mariners (17-10-2) Friday night, 2-0, at Whitehouse Field in Harwich. After ten innings of scoreless baseball, Tim Susnara (Oregon) singled in Quinn Brodey (Stanford) to put Cotuit on the board in the 11th. A Pat Dorrian (Lynn University) single into left field scored Susnara, putting Cotuit up, 2-0, where the score would stay.
On the mound
Colton Hock (Stanford) got the start for Cotuit, Hunter Williams (North Carolina) started on the hill for the Mariners. Hock matched his longest start of the season, allowing no runs on five hits in six innings of work.
Hock got himself out of numerous jams; highlighted by a fourth inning strikeout with the bases loaded to keep the game knotted at zero. He was replaced in the bottom of the seventh inning by Taylor Lehman (Penn State).
Ryan Rigby (Mississippi State) closed the game for the Kettleers, allowing no runs on ond hit in two and one-third innings of work. Rigby earned the win
At the plate
Cotuit was stifled at the plate for much of the night Friday. Harwich starter Williams was crafty on the mound, allowing no runs on just two hits in seven innings of work.
The Kettleers’ bats didn’t light up until the 11th inning, when Susnara ended the scoring drought, knocking in Brodey on an RBI-single.
Dorrian batted 3-for-5 in the loss, posting two singles and a double. In the top of the second, Dorrian tried to leg his double into a triple, but was gunned out easily at third. He made up for his error in the 11th with an RBI-single, scoring Susnara and putting Cotuit ahead, 2-0.
Clay Fisher (UC Santa Barbara) also batted 2-for-4, posting two singles for the Kettleers in the victory.
