What Happened: Cotuit (19-18-4) fell to the Wareham Gatemen 7-2 on Monday night despite out-hitting them 6-5.
By the Numbers:
Pitchers Better Than the Numbers Would Suggest:
5 hits allowed for Cotuit pitching on Monday night, with just Beck Way (Belmont Abbey) allowing more than one hit out of the four arms.
0 hits allowed by Matt Moore (Purdue), who now sports a .68 ERA on the year.
12 strikeouts by Kettleer pitching on the night, highlighted by Nick Jones’s (Georgia Southern) four strikeouts in just one official inning pitched (passed ball third strike).
8 walks for Cotuit pitching on the night. In the last three games, the Kettleers have walked 23 batters. Walks plagued the Kettleers early in the season and Mike Roberts said it was a focal point to lower them. Not surprising that in the last three games, Cotuit is just 1-2.
1.97 ERA for Sean Sullivan (Cal) now on the season. He only allowed one hit and struck out three Gatemen in his three innings of work Monday.
You Probably Shouldn’t Pitch to This Guy

50 hits on the season for Gonzales, the most on the Cape.
4 triples on the season (one in the game) for Gonzales, the most on the Cape.
32 RBI on the season, good for second most on the Cape.
Infinite salivating scouts watching Gonzales’s all-around stellar game.
