Quick hitter: Cotuit falls to Hyannis on Monday evening

Posted by Katherine Ware
/ June 21, 2021

Score/Result: Hyannis 7-4 Cotuit

Kettleer hitter of the game: Blake Klassen (UC Santa Barbara) had himself a stellar day at the plate. Klassen started his big day by crushing the second pitch of the game over the tree line behind the right field fence. The left-handed hitter almost left the yard again in the sixth inning but settled for a double off the center field fence. Klassen finished his day with a single through the right side of the infield, before crossing the plate for the second time on a Dylan Beavers’ sacrifice fly.

Clutch hit of the game: Ben Rice (Dartmouth) came through with a clutch two-out hit early in the ballgame. With two runners on and two outs in the third inning, Rice grounded a double down the first base line to score Dylan Beavers (California) and RJ Schreck (Duke). The double put the Kettleers up 3-0. Rice has reached base five times through two games.

Key stat: 14. The Kettleers had quality at-bats throughout the night but couldn’t find many timely hits outside of Rice’s double. Cotuit stranded 14 runners on base. The Ketts left multiple men on base in five innings.

Cotuit: 4 runs / 12 hits / 3 errors

Hyannis: 7 runs / 7 hits / 0 errors

Next Game: Tuesday, 6/22, 5PM vs. Bourne

We’ll have more with a full game story in the morning.
